The Tralee Circus festival is Ireland’s circus festival and one of the most exciting, emerging festivals in Ireland. The festival has lit up Tralee every November in a explosion of theatre, clown, aerial, fun, laughter, skill and absurdity.
Highlights from our 2011 festival shows
The Tralee Circus Festival began in 2001 as a juggling convention. It was a way for the diverse strands of a contemporary circus culture to meet, share ideas, fun and create an Irish expression for this exciting artform. Over the years the Tralee Circus Festival has evolved to be Irelands annual contemporary circus festival.
At the heart of the festival is Circus Siamsa, a public variety show, held in Siamsa Tíre Theatre, is the national showcase for contemporary urban circus and features top national and international performers handpicked and hosted by:
The Fanzini Brothers
This year the festival is delighted to present the Irish premiere of Leandre Ribera’s “Chez Leandre” Leandre is one of the worlds most respected and sought after performers and his show is a beautifully funny piece of contemporary clown theatre.
Other highlights include shows from the Lords Of Strut, The Anonymous Brothers from Brazil, ”Circus Sideshow,” a bespoke festival club, a weekend programme of circus arts workshops and master-classes from visiting artists and a festival finale parade on Sunday with LUXe pageant company.
